do not join the band of rogues who never actually read fitzgerald or any of these great authors, but mindlessly reblog their quotes on tumblr.

it aggravates me. probably because being an avid reader of fitzgerald, context is a huge part of half of the points he makes. it’s funny in the way that i will read a quote on here, remember where it occurred in the particular story it’s from, and realize that half of the people who “idolize” it are idolizing it for the wrong reasons.

plus, why cite a quote and not state which story it comes from?
